Chapter 1.0 Welcome
Welcome to SuperBBS & Bimodem Menu Program, SBBS_BI. You can
distribute this program freely over the wide world, but a
donation of any amount of money would be gladly accepted.
You are NOT allowed to distribute this program on ANY
commercial purposes without having promotion from us!

Chapter 2.0 Installation
It is very simple to install this software in your SBBS, and
here follows a quick walk thru manual to do that:
First, copy the file SBBS_BI.EXE to a subdirectory of
your SBBS directory, or wherever you want to have it, but if
you do NOT put the SBBS_BI.EXE in the SBBS directory, you'll
have to have at least the configuration file (SBBS_BI.CFG)
in that directory. Ok, lets think you decided to put your
EXE file in a subsirectory called \SBBS\SBBS_BI.
Now you'll have to make a configuration file, or use our
demo file, and just change a few lines in it. To get infor-
mation about the configuration file, read the descriptions
in that file. After this, you have to copy your BIMODEM.CFG
file to your SBBS directory, else BiModem will not read the
informations correctly, and the user update wont work!
When you are ready with this, you'll have to make an entry
in the file menu maybe, or where you want to have this file
executable. Use the SBBSMENU program, or if you have an
external program, use that, and do like this:
Display line: "<B>iModem UL/DL (only include)
Optional Data: SBBS_BI\SBBS_BI.EXE *E *S (*S if you)
(want to swap)
Menu Type: 7 (Shell to DOS and run program) (SuperBBS )
Security: 5
Letter: B
Foreground: 14
Background: 0
Flags A: ---X----
Flags B: XX------
Flags C: --------
Flags D: -------X
The Display Line, Security, Letter, Fore/Backgound and the
Flags are optional, or it's you who decides what they should
be, but I think that Optional Data and Menu Type should not
be changed, except the "*S" option in Menu Type 7, which
says that SuperBBS should try to swap itself to EMS or Disk.
Now your program is ready to be used from your SBBS.

Chapter 3.0 Running SBBS_BI - Start up
When you fire up the SBBS_BI file, SBBS_BI will first look
for the EXITINFO.BBS,and if this is not found, an error will
come up. If there is an error in the file, or you may trying
to use this program with another BBS software than SuperBBS,
then there will be the same error, but now you know that it
wont work with your software.
Then it will search for SBBS_BI.CFG in the current directory
and then the DORINFO<nodenumber>.DEF file, and the same
things should be mentioned to these files as to EXITINFO.
When the user selects "1" in the main menu, the program will
look in the file FLSEARCH.BBS for your fileareas, and show
the directories allowed to the user.
Chapter 3.1 Running SBBS_BI - Running in the Program
In the main menu you can select by 7 things:
<1> Select files to Download
<2> Start BiModem transfers
<3> Yell at Sysop
<4> Help with the program
<5> Stastitics about user
<6> Locate a file
<7> Return to BBS
--- Page 4 --------------------------------------------------------------
The sysop can press F1 to toggle between 4 modes in the
status bar on the bottom line.
1 line: Sysop Help
2 line: Users up and download in kb and times
3 line: Shows node, baud/parity/batabits/stopbits,
com port, security level and users time left
4 line: Users name and location
If the user has requested a chat with you, then in line 1
and 4 there will be a blue line which says " Wants Chat " on
the right side of the line.
To hang-up the user, simply press Alt-H.
When pressing the 1 key, the user will first be promted to
select a file area, and then, if the area was found in your
FLSEARCH.BBS, he will be promted for filenames, and can use
wildcards like "*". He can write more than 1 filename, and
if the file wasn't found in the current area, the program
asks for another one.
When selecting the Locate file option in the Main Menu, the
user will be promted for one filename, and the program will
search all the filearea the user have access to. If the file
was found, it will be displayd, and so the filearea and
number will.
If the user yells for you, you can not break in for a chat,
but you can press a key to break the yell, and then if you
want to chat, you can hang-up the user with Alt-H and then
talk to him!

Chapter 3.2 Running SBBS_BI - Running in local mode
There is no different to the local mode as for the online
mode, but there will not be any modem online.
If you want to try to run the program from DOS, and then on
local mode, you might should run the SBBS program first to
make a DORINFO<nodenumber>.DEF file, because there's where
this program get its information about the baud number. When
running SBBS in local mode, he will write "0 Baud" in this
file, and then the program knows that you are running in
local mode!
Chapter 4.0 Common errors
- The program stops before I havn't come into it yet.
Check the configuration file and look at the paths to your
SBBS files and for the directory to SBBS_BI.
- The user isn't upgraded when he has finished a filetrans-
fer.
You haven't typed the right path to your BiModem files or to
the BiModem log file and if you have, check your BiModem
config file (BIMODEM.CFG) with BICONFIG.COM. Check there if
you have selected if the BiModem should create a log file,
AND that the path is the same as in SBBS_BI.CFG to the log
file. There is another thing too. You might have made
some changes to the BIMODEM.LOG file, and the editor you
were using included an ESCape character at the end of the
file. If this is true, there is two ways to get out of it,
the first, which is the simpliest, is to delete the file,
and if you had some important notes in it, you can make a
backup of the file. The other solution is to edit the file
again, with an editor which views the ESCape character, and
then delete that, and which also NOT include this character
at the end of the file.
- Suddenly, the program hangs when I'm running it.
This is a thing that I've seen, but I don't know how to make
it better, except that it only showed up when I was running
the program from one computer to another with only a cable
between them, and I only got the ability to try to run it on
a 2400 bps modem, so, try to lower the baud rate somehow on
your BBS, and see if it works better. If it doesn't, you can
always contact me, if I might have figured it out by then,
but you will probable don't get any good answer from me!
--- Page 6 --------------------------------------------------------------
When I've running the program in a BBS online, I haven't
seen this problem, so I think this is nothing to worry
about!
